WHY FAITH?

Jesus is the Living God and yet wholly human – he knows exactly what fragile human life is all about, but he is and knows God. Therefore, he is able to identify with us in our weaknesses – and, yet, he is able to lift us above our fragile humanity towards him, becoming like him in character and practice. In God, through Jesus, we put our trust – not just for our short human life on earth – but for an everlasting and eternal life when we will see Jesus face-to-face, no longer shrouded by our frail bodies and weak understanding.

We have faith in one God in three persons: The Heavenly Father, The Son – The Lord Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, and the Holy Spirit our Paraclete. We believe in the Holy Scriptures – the Bible – that are profitable for instruction in righteousness and given to us to help us to know God and to follow him. It is those very Scriptures that point to Jesus. We have faith that a living relationship in the Lord Jesus Christ is the way of forgiveness and of holy living, and that in Christ is salvation and life. We believe in the church universal as fellowship of believers throughout history who follow Jesus and seek to live together in faith and love, practising the life of God in the world in which we live.
